6-Week Agility for Fun, 60 Minutes Weekly
Course Description
In Agility, dog/handler teams do not all participate on the course simultaneously - only one dog/handler team is permitted to work the course at a time. Because participants have individual, consecutive turns on the course, it is possible to have teams of different levels in the same class. Examples of Levels are as follows:
INTRO to AGILITY for FIRST-TIMERS
Each week dogs will be introduced to a new obstacle and learn to navigate it.
Handlers will learn the correct names of each obstacle & how to guide the dog through it properly & safely with positive reinforcement. Some of the obstacles to be introduced are:
Pause Table
Open Tunnel
Tire Jump
Bar Jump
Double Bar Jump
Triple Bar Jump
A-Frame
Weave Poles
Chute
See Saw
NOVICE AGILITY for SECOND-TIMERS
Dogs will continue to be introduced to new obstacles AND
Each week dogs will practice the known obstacles to improve their performance on those obstacles.
If ready, dogs will begin to practice the obstacles in combinations.
Handlers will learn how to teach the dog maneuvers such as:
Here or Close
Pause, Wait or Settle
Get Out
Go Right
Go Left
BEGINNER AGILITY for DOGS WHO HAVE “BEEN AROUND” the COURSE
Each week dogs will practice more and more combinations and work on improving performance.
